Although email marketing is not as effective as a few years back, or should I say – not as easy, it still is the meat and potatoes, you just have to do it..
Collecting leads is the name of the game online.
I know you’ve heard that way too many times, but it’s dead on – if you ain’t building a list, you ain’t building a business.
Email marketing is way more than just collecting leads though, as a matter of fact, it is what you do after getting those emails that will determine how much money you will make.
Therefore, I prepared the 6 email marketing tips for supercharging your campaigns.
To tell you the truth, some of the facts inside still amaze me, as I will always have hard times understanding how on earth colors can affect optin rates that much…
…read on, you will see what the essence of email marketing is in a few paragraphs.
1 Details
Details are vital.
You don’t have to write an essay what your visitors must option for, you can use numbered bullet points to list exactly what your subscribers would get when they enter your list.
People like to know what they’d get, it’s not 2005, there are a lot of email marketers and people choose carefully where to subscribe. It is extremely important to give them details about the free ebook you’ll be giving away, or why they need your 20 page report on list building.
2 Honesty
Honesty is what will make you a fortune not only in email marketing but in life as well.
lying is for the short term, and for idiots.
When you promise something, you have to deliver.
Your capture page should offer something people would actually get after they optin.
Don’t be like:
“I’ll show you how to become famous on social media”
…and then send them a pdf how to upload a Facebook cover.
Your emails should build trust, which happens when you send personal, valuable emails.
You might wanna show them you made 10,000 in a week, yet if you didn’t – don’t lie to them, simply send them something else you achieved, like collecting ten leads in a day and a way for them to do the same.
You get the idea.
Lying sure sells, which is why so many people do it, but it won’t help you in the long run. People are also not that naive as in the 90s, they smell fake from a thousand miles.
Lying is just not cool.
3 Don’t let objections stand on your way, overcome them instead, here is how
Let’s first list what the most common obstacles are:
- Don’t you just wanna sell me something?
- Am I going to receive hundreds of emails?
- What makes your different?
- Is my email safe?
When people are on a capture page, the first thing they think is:
“yeah right, that’s just another sales pitch.”
To tell you the truth, it is not very easy to overcome this one, however, making the capture page offer something cool helps, and when it is free it gets people a bit more interested.
Although testings show ‘free’ gets way more leads, you should know people who like free stuff like, well, free stuff LOL… which is not that great for sales.
If you don’t want to offer free stuff, you can overcome this objection by letting people subconsciously know exactly why they optin – to buy your awesome product.
You also have to assure your visitors they will not get bombarded with emails, you will not sell them something dumb and you will not share their emails.
4 Colors
As I said in the beginning, colors affect people’s decisions directly. I was, and still am, amazed how true this is.
I will first let you learn what colors mean to us so you could understand better why you should use blue, orange or purple when creating your capture pages.
Here is another cool color article – Color Psychology.
Red is awesome for a “buy now” or “submit” button, it increases blood pressure, therefore increases excitement levels (which is best for getting people to do something), it also increases heart rates, creates urgency, can be seen immediately and is the best option for a call to action… no matter what it is.
Red urges people into making a fast decision, yet it is not the best option for links, or capture pages.
5 Focus on benefits
You know why so many marketers suck at selling?
That’s right – because they focus on features instead of benefits.
What do I mean?
A “20 page killer lead generation report” doesn’t show that much of a benefit, right?
It says the report is killer, and it is about getting leads, but that’s it – all features.
On the other hand, “You will learn how to easily get 50 leads a day with my killer lead generation report” or “my killer report will teach you how to get 50 leads a day” both accent the benefits.
Reveal the benefits, people like to know what is in it for them, not that much that your book is the best in the world.
6 Send Unsubscribe emails every once in a while
Don’t be scared to remind your subscribers to unsubscribe every now and then.
This way you will show them you don’t like wasting neither your time, nor theirs.
I see most people are terrified of unsubscribes, well, you shouldn’t be, you should welcome them… you are not for everybody and you should not be trying to be.
These are the 6 email marketing tips for supercharging your email marketing campaigns.
I’ll give you one more tip cause you are cool – set up expectations. Let your visitors know exactly what to expect, this way you will decrease your unsubscribe rates by much.
