To be honest, there were times I used to think affiliate marketing was for wannabes… but now that I’ve been around for a while, I know it’s not at all.
Building a product from scratch can be a pain in the ass – you need programmers, support, traffic etc etc… on the other hand, with affiliate marketing you only need traffic.
What really made me write this article was an email I got the other day.
A guy asked me how to get affiliate marketing going with free traffic.
At first, I was like:
“Free is not a pleasant option”
…but then I thought about how I built this blog for free (almost) and decided to tell you how you can get free traffic and make a shit ton of money promoting other people’s products.
You still need a few hundred to a thousand bucks for hosting and design… you can’t tell me you have nothing, I’ll snap right now LOL.
You have two options (that are worth it) to get free traffic – blogging and social media… though social media traffic is not that great.
If you want to make it big online, you need a fast, cool and entertaining blog.
You should know right from the start the less money you have, the more time you will have to put in, and the crazier it would be to succeed.
It took me years to build this blog, not a lot of people would have pushed that long, there were times I didn’t even believe the blog would ever start making money, but I never quit and now it’s all paying off.
It will for you as well.
Here’s how to build your affiliate business with free traffic.
1 Choose a product that you are comfortable with
It doesn’t even have to be a life changer… I know it sounds a bit douchey, but people don’t really buy what they need, they buy what they feel like buying.
And to make them feel like buying, you have to be enthusiastic about what you are selling.
Not a lot of people get the importance of that, which is why I’m telling you about it even before how to get traffic for free.
You have to love what you are selling.
Really get that and you will make it happen big time.
2 Prepare for a rough ride
You have to know building a business for free is the worst.
It’s not fun at all, you have to get yourself ready for a lot of struggle and sleepless nights.

3 Build a killer blog
I’ve written quite a few articles how to do it and have searched some for you:
I’ll only tell you what really makes a blog stand out – NOT copying others.
Don’t write long articles because someone said so.
Don’t try to sound smart.
Don’t try to write the best content.
Just be yourself, be fun and people will read and follow you.
Just read what I’ve searched, as I can talk for ages about blogging and I have to tell you how to get free traffic now.
4 Free traffic
I’ve done a lot of shit online and the only free traffic that is worth it, for me, is search traffic… not paid search traffic, but traffic that comes from cool articles on the first page of Google.
I get almost all my traffic from search. (I didn’t even know this was possible back when I started the blog, this is why I’m telling you to push until you reach your goal no matter what)
Social traffic is cheap, you can get it for pennies, you can build a social page if you want… to me, it’s a waste of time. Once you become popular, it will build itself.
How to get that free Google traffic.
I might disappoint you, but it’s not backlinks… not at all.
They sure are a part of the process, but not really a vital part.
What would help you rank your pages is a huge blog with massive authority.
I know, how did you think that me feel when I was new to everything, was writing the best articles, was building the most links, but never got even close to page one?
I started ranking when I published enough entertaining articles for Google to notice my blog and see it is worth being on the front page.
Google is a business, they count links, but they care about satisfying their customers the most.
The best way to get to page one of Google is to start writing right now, you will need a lot of content to show Google you are worth being there.
To speed up the process, you can buy an authority domain, or a blog like mine, but you have to go deep, as deep as you can, in your pockets for such a step.
I’d never sell the blog for less than half a mill, even that seems a bit low.
5 Get leads
When I started online everybody was saying email marketing was dead, I was like:
“How is it dead when so many people are doing it? No way”
I optimized the blog for lead generation and now I have a huge list full of friends. Building it would have probably been easier in 2004, but the point is everything works when done right.
Build a list and you will have an asset for life.
I always advise people to sell, you don’t have to be afraid of it like most people.
Sell hard, people love to buy, you don’t need those who don’t anyway.
You have to know how to sell, though… you can’t just send links and expect people to click and buy.
