Video marketing is huge right now, actually it’s been huge for a long time, and is possibly the most powerful marketing method.
Most marketers are not that keen on making videos as they are normally introverts, I myself don’t like making videos that much though I do occasionally.
Nothing forms powerful emotional connections with your customers like videos, but don’t worry, I’ll tell you what to do if you too don’t like the camera that much.
I know people who make most of their incomes on You Tube alone, and I’m not talking about pranks or some creepy stuff, you and me are business people, we like building assets and use You Tube as a traffic booster, cause it’s the third most powerful social media…
…I’m talking about shooting cool informational, educational, entertaining videos that will make you more sales whatever your business is.
I got into video marketing in 2012 (I know I should have started earlier, but I’ve never liked You Tube That much).
My first video was horrible, with a bad title and wasn’t optimized at all… but was also hilarious.
I saw a bear falling on its back while playing with a tree, the video was so funny I laughed my a$$ off, then I used a screen recorder (I did not know I could download it straight away back then LOL) and uploaded it as my own video to test what will happen.
Well, it got about 650 views the first several days and then I unlisted it cause it wasn’t mine, plus it’s not cool to list videos when they are not yours.
Anyway, it still got a lot of eyeballs without me doing anything about it, this was the moment I realized I had to get more into video marketing…
…but I told you I wasn’t that much of a video fan, so I came up with the idea to make a free video university for my own customers (it was free only for them and those who got their hands on the video links one way or another).
I put up a site, embeded the video links on it (of the videos I had previously shot) and that was it. The purpose of the university was to help people understand how marketing online worked and all the videos were educational about wordpress, autoresponders, traffic and the like.
The results were more than satisfying:
I got thousands of new customers since people were recommending the university, they were grateful for my help, which led to more friendships, traffic sales and good karma…
…plus helping is the best, it is the best thing you could do for your business, and videos are just perfect for that purpose.
There are many many ways to get YouTube traffic like shooting killer entertaining videos and linking to wherever you want people to go to in the description of the video, or making your YouTube channel an informational hub, or reviewing products, or making interviews, or announcing upcoming launches, or uplifting people through inspirational videos etc etc and there is not that much to be explained about them.
One thing should be paid more attention when we talk about You Tube video marketing – video search engine optimization.
People don’t know how to do it and no one actually talks about it that much… which to tell you the truth is weird, You Tube is the second most powerful search engine in addition to being a social network.
People used to go to Google only, and now they use You Tube as well to find what they need, meaning you MUST optimize your videos for search.
Since most people suck at video optimization, there is a pretty huge chance to rank your videos on page one of You Tube, which will get you a lot of traffic.
Optimizing your videos to rank high on You Tube is actually quite fun.
Here’s what you need to do:
1 Keywords
-Keyword in the beginning of the title
-Keyword in the first paragraph of the description
-keyword throughout the body of the description
-link to a relevant blog post or You Tube video
-enough tags to thoroughly and accurately describe your videos
2 Titles, Descriptions and Tags
Titles
The first thing you need to know about not just YouTube, but online marketing in general, is titles are everything.
Don’t take my word for it, I know a guy who built an adsense empire writing over-the-top titles.
Your title should be funny, descriptive and optimized at the same time, don’t worry, it’s not that hard as it sounds. It’s like writing cool email titles to get your emails opened.
Description
I didn’t feel like writing anything here LOL, so I copied You Tube’s optimization guide, it actually draws the picture pretty well:
Like the title, a video’s description field is valuable real estate that helps audiences and YouTube’s discovery systems understand what your content is about. Only the first few sentences of your video description will appear in search results and above the fold on a watch page – so make them count!
Accurately describe your video in one to three concise sentences at the top.
Include relevant keywords in your description that can aid in content discovery.
Add experience-enhancing links such as subscribe, related videos, playlists, etc.
I will only add your description should be written as if you were talking to a friend, just like a blog post.
Tags
You can use Google keyword tool (now called keyword planner) to come up with relevant keywords, or if you don’t have an account, just type your keyword in Google, scroll down to the bottom and take a look at the related search terms.
Don’t go crazy with your tags to not get penalized for tag spam.
3 Annotations
Annotations are those kinda like ads clickable text overlays on You Tube videos.
Think of them as calls to action, and you should know by know everything you do online should have a call to action.
4 Channel optimization
Let’s talk about the about section, as I’m sure you know you have to upload a cool channel art and profile pic.
The about section though should be written as if it was for your own site.
Include some keywords you want to be recognized for in it and basically write the most awesome about section you could think of.
Optimize your sections, enable and upload a channel trailer and you will be good to go.
If you want to go even further, you can also reach all audiences through captions and local channels.
YouTube videos actually rank quite easy on Google as well, you can go read the full SEO promotional process to see how to get thousands of backlinks and rank any video on Google and You Tube at the same time.
Yeah buddy, solid gold.
That’s how Leverage You Tube to elevate your traffic.
Not only is You Tube the third most visited site online, but it’s also the second most used search engine.
