I’ve visited his site numerous times since it got online about a year ago, I’ve read about 50 articles how he did it, how much he makes off of it via AdSense only, and I’m still shocked by the numbers…
…and I get impressed pretty hard since I was already a millionaire by the age of 22.
This is how awesome what Scott DeLong achieved is.
I don’t really know the guy and to tell you the truth, I don’t really care about him (sorry if you get upset Scott), but I had to write this article, cause I thought AdSense was a waste of time like you did probably.
Well, it’s not.
Take a look at viralnova.com and you will see what I mean.
According to Alexa, the site has so much traffic it makes six figures a month… since Scott has decided to sell it, this might not be all real traffic, yet the site still gets a lot of hits.
How did I stumble upon viralnova?
I don’t usually visit such sites, but last year (it was a June day) a promoted story came across my FB news feed.
I clicked the link since the title of the story was awesome ( Spock told you it was all about the title) and landed on a pretty cool page, something like this one:
…which was copied from somewhere else just like all content on Scott’s site.
Ever since then I’ve been following this site and have been amazed how popular it has become.
Is it against the law to just copy content and paste it on your site without linking to the original (update: they started linking to the originals, yet still have lots of pages without links)?
I don’t know anymore LOL, but it sure is very very profitable if you know how to do it.
How to create a site like viralnova?
Although copying and pasting sounds like something even a dog can do, I did a little research about Scott and found out he’s been around since 2000 and knows this and that about flipping sites, and more specifically creating viral content, popularizing the site that content’s on and then selling it.
So it’s not that easy, but I can give you a guide on how exactly to do this business.
Why don’t I do it?
I’ve never liked copying and I will never do, and I personally think this is a pretty crappy business model, although it makes a lot of money obviously.
And the reason I’m that picky about what I do is I learned my lesson when I was about 26 and lost my company due to the fact I was running businesses I did not like at all.
Now I run by: you have to truly and really love what you do.
Anyway, here’s how to create such a business:
1 You need about 1,000 for Fb ads to get the business going
2 A cool domain like viralcontent.com or anything awesome you think of
2.5 Set up a simple design meant to make people share and like your content (go look at viralnova and you will get the idea).
Basically almost any theme will do as long as you have social sharing buttons and maybe an email optin form to get leads.
3 Get whatever hosting as long as it’s reliable, and you’ll upgrade later (if you have the money get Wp Engine)
4 You also need several people to help
5 Set up your Facebook page
6 Start publishing tons of content, or I should say – start copying tons of content.
Find whatever is trending and republish it on your site, I don’t really know if you should link to the original or not, I think you should, but I guess you can do it without linking.
7 It’s all about the titles
I wrote an article the other day, go read it and you will see why some posts get shared, read and liked and some don’t, in other words, you will see how to create viral content.
8 Copy even more content
9 Run Fb ads to get the ball rolling.
10 That’s basically it.
What should you concentrate on the most?
Many have created similar sites like boredpanda.com, and at the same time many have failed.
So I have no idea whether it’s as easy as they say or not, but it surely is easier than most things online.
For example, it took me 6 years to get this blog to what it is now.
There you have it, that’s how you build an AdSsence empire in six months.
Thanks for reading and let me know if you liked this article, you rock! 🙂
