Content marketing is done differently already… and I’m here to tell you about the futuristic content marketing that will shoot you head and shoulders above the competition.
1 Long posts
Although I don’t like them, neither do I like wasting time reading all those long introductions, nor scrolling half a page to read the one line that I care about (because it’s berried in a sea of fluff), it is long posts that will help you get more traffic.
– Google love them, not because they are always the most valuable, but because they tend to be the most popular. People just love reading long nothing saying articles.
– You will get people to spend more time reading your site, which is the ultimate goal… plus time spent on the site is a ranking factor.
– It is proven that marketers like linking to more in-depth articles rather than to short such, meaning your long posts will get more backlinks.
– Since people love them, long articles tend to get more likes and shares.
– Lastly, being long qualifies them as more qualitative… which is not always the case, yet again – people love reading them and that’s what matters.
I don’t care that much about long articles, If I feel like writing such – I do, but most times I concentrate on short to the point articles that don’t waste people’s time.
Visuals have always been powerful, that’s why they say:
“a picture says a thousand fords”
..or something like that, but lately visuals have been a must.
You can read the article “Awesome Ideas How To Use Visuals In Your Social Media Marketing” (one of the first articles on the blog that became popular) to learn how to use pictures to attract attention and get people to follow, like, share and read your content. It is in our nature to react much more to visuals, than to text, which is why you should use them more in your content marketing campaign.
3 Infographics, Instuctographics and Listgraphics
Whatever else of that kind you think of – use it for content marketing. Infogrphics became popular a few years ago and they have been rocking the net since… listgraphics and instructographics are also the bomb… they are both kinda the same like infographics, only you have to use lists and how to guides to make them.
The number one site for presentations – slideshare is continuously growing, which means presentations are becoming more popular. They are a pretty good way to interact with your readers, plus they are fun and entertaining.
If you don’t have the time to create them, you could turn your articles into presentations, then into video presentations… I did this a few years ago.
Videos have been popular ever since YouTube was created and quickly became one of the top social networks. Video marketing is all about entertainment… not about keyword stuffing and that kind of shit.
Videos are personal, they are the best way to connect with people, but you have to make them professional, you need a cool camera and to start shooting right now.
Although most marketers use them for the sole purpose of selling, and by doing so webinars have become less effective, they still kick ass as the online version of meetings… they are fast, cheap, connecting and can be recorded to be used over and over again.
Just be careful not to send people to some bla blaing thing, because you will lose your more reasonable audience.
As you can see… if not, you will see, there are more and more people making podcasts. They are mainly awesome because people tend to listen to them while driving to work… and when they can’t watch videos, or read articles
They make it possible to reach new audiences which is always a good thing… and some people just prefer listening to audio.
Podcasting is huge, here’s why:
– More exposure for your content
– A warmer contact between you and your audience than text
– Available for listening anywhere and anytime
As you can see, content marketing will always be powerful when you stay up to date with what works best.
Of course, to get it to work you need some serious content considering that the competition is a lot. And the best way to make your content get noticed is by being consistent.
There is no easy way to become an awesome content marketer. It takes a lot of time and work to get your audience to enjoy your stuff.
