Getting email leads should be your main priority online
This – you might now, what you need to know though is whether those leads should be confirmed, or unconfirmed.
Email Marketing is a science, it’s not just getting as much traffic as you can to a capture page.
First off, most people get it very wrong, even those who’ve been online forever.
Email marketing means sending emails to get people to know you and/or like you, when they do, they buy.
Really think about that for a while. If you get it, you will double your sales.
These days, mainly because technology is at a point even grandpa has a site and collects emails to monetize, there are many more senders than request-ers (don’t really know if there is such a word, but you get my point), which is why marketers do their best to just get any email, no matter confirmed or unconfirmed.
Everybody talks about huge email lists and volumes (which take much more time with double optins) and unconfirmed email leads are becoming more and more popular.
Let me tell you something vital though – I’m subscribed to all of the top marketing blogs, plus top marketers, and NONE of them collects unconfirmed leads.
Don’t take my word for it, just find a well known blog and you will see what I’m saying.
I personally have always been asking people to confirm their subscriptions just like everybody who knows this business.
Here is why email leads should always be confirmed unless you run paid traffic campaigns aimed at volume instead of quality, or run giveaway campaigns like I’m doing on this blog (with giveaways people kinda know they’ll be sent an email with a download link and rarely use fake emails).
The thing is email marketing is at a point you can’t just get any email, you have to sort them out, there is a lot of crap online and people are cautious.
First reason – mindset
When you ask people to confirm their subscription they unconsciously already know your emails would be a lot more valuable, and not that pitchy. They also know you won’t just try to get them to buy the next “big thing”, but to give them what they really need.
Asking for confirmation will also show them you are not just collecting email leads for the numbers, and this is huge… people want to follow leaders and not just the next marketer who wants to squeeze a dollar off of them.
I personally don’t even read emails I wasn’t asked asked to confirm, because I know what they would be:
” Hi my name is John,
I want to show you the next turn key bla bla bla”
…maybe not exactly that dull, the point is more people will follow, open and read your emails when they know you are a leader.
Marketers who just want to get your email no matter what it is are always the kind that send a lot of junk, and send it often.
You don’t want to be like them, positioning is everything online, you have to show people you are successful and care about your subscribers… and most importantly – want to make them successful too.
Second reason to ask for confirmation (this one is huge) – confirmed email leads are REAL.
These are emails that people use, and not just fake or temporary such.
It’s not a secret the market is flooded, there are more marketers than ever, you have to show people you are different, that you will only give your information to those who deserve it.
Third reason – money and time savings
Asking for confirmation might get you less leads, but they would be more quality and you will save both – money and time.
The more leads you get, the more you pay.
If those email leads are qualitative – great, but if you collect any possible email out there, you will have to pay more money for email marketing services, you will also have to pay for additional software to sort out the fake emails…
…and you will spend countless hours cleaning your list(s) once they become huge.
Fourth reason – desperation
It’s not a good feeling to have 1,000 leads and make five bucks off of them, which will happen if you don’t ask for confirmation.
You better have 5 emails that actually read what you send than 1,000 who might not even exist.
The reason I wanted to write this article is to to help you understand unconfirmed leads are not such a great idea, most people who preach collecting them are poor marketers who don’t know email marketing.
Email leads should be confirmed. You better have 5 opened emails, than 1,000 unseen.
