Amazon is the real deal… and the amazon kindle store is a great way to not only sell thousands of books but to get traffic and leads, too.
I just started my first book and, to tell you the truth, it’s been real fun.
Writing a book is so cool I’m mad at myself for postponing it for so long.
I’ll let you take a look the moment I publish it… I’m only gonna reveal what it is about right now, it’s about getting rich by following no rules, doing, and falling over. I think you will find it very entertaining and helpful.
The book is already live, you can get it here:
Use the form to your right to get on my VIP list and I’ll let you know when it comes out, I might even give it to you for free cause you are cool.
Anyway, the minute I started getting to know the Kindle store and what’s what a little better, I instantly said to myself:
“why the heck have I not started publishing books earlier”?
And it’s not just selling those books, it’s getting all that Amazon traffic…
…Amazon is, in my opinion, the second best search engine online on top of being the ‘go to’ place for buying anything, and pushing your listings to the front page is a whole lot easier than dealing with Google’s constant algorithms.
I was thinking of making this article all about the fun, but the information I’m gonna give you is so important and powerful I became all serious again LOL.
It’s all good though, I hope you get the most out this post and kill it.
The first thing you need to do is start writing your book right now, and don’t try to write the most awesome piece on the planet… just pick a topic you know well and write your book, the first one you publish is going to suck anyway, but this doesn’t matter.
Don’t be like: ‘yeah right’
It really is not a big deal if your first book is not that great, you will get better with time, plus I’ll still show you how to get boat loads of traffic and leads even if the book doesn’t sell.
So just start writing, or if you have the cash, pay someone to write it for you… I’d rather write mine myself though.
When I started writing my book I was like:
“let me go see what some of the famous authors would recommend”
Well, it was a total waste of time, they were all talking about formatting and covers and writing something that would solve problems bla bla bla… to tell you the truth, the info was so useless I forgot most of it.
There is only one thing that matters if you want to sell – MARKETING…
…and it works just like it does with everything – it’s not about ranking your book in the first spot on the first page of Amazon, although that would help a lot, it’s about getting some of the smart heads to recommend it.
How to do that?
You search them out and ask how much they want for a review, then you play humble and tell people you did not expect this book to be such a success and link to those smart heads’ reviews in your introduction… but this might be costly and is not really needed if this is your first book.
That’s how easy it is, and that’s all it takes.
Of course a nice cover and proper formatting is needed… who doesn’t know that?
But the key to a best seller is again positioning.
You might be wondering how I know all that without even having my first book published… because I know marketing and I know how selling works, and I noticed there were numerous books better than the best sellers in the niches I searched, yet those better books weren’t best sellers…
…which shows selling books is just like selling any other product.
You still have to write an awesome book though, you have to be proud of your work, just because you know how to sell and the world has come to a place where marketing is more important than anything doesn’t mean you have to sell crap…
…let’s leave that to those who only care about the sale and nothing else, you and me care about quality too.
Time for the fun part now – using the kindle store to get traffic and leads… which of course will lead to even more sales.
Getting leads via Amazon is nothing new, at the same time competition is close to none.
Well, people can neither think of Amazon as a lead source, nor can they manage to setup their lead systems right.
I don’t have a problem with that – more traffic, leads and sales for me and you.
Your book’s intro is the most important part, as it is the only part previewers can check out.
You have to include a link to your capture page in it.
I’m not gonna concentrate on what to write in that introduction, how to write it, how to make your landing page convert, where to redirect people after submission etc, as this is just regular marketing you can learn at the blog.
I’ll tell you how to get people to preview your book and get on your list.
Last I heard there were about 1 million books in the store, which means you have to stand out… pretty much just like with everything online.
Amazon’s ranking algorithm is pretty complex, here’s what you need to do to get Amazon to rank it high on page one or in a popular books list or anything like that.
1 Optimize your book listing
It works just like on-page SEO, You have to include your keyword in the title, in the description of the book, you need to USE LSI words in that description, make the title really cool for people to want to click it and pay for a professional cover design…
…your description should be formatted for maximum sales conversion, use headings, bullets, bold, italic and even pictures from the book or author (you must host the pictures on a different site).

2 Backlinks and book promotion
If you don’t have money, you can try building links to your Amazon listing. You don’t have to care about getting penalized, as you won’t be building links to rank on Google.
To tell you the truth, I have no idea whether backlinks are major important, and I doubt anyone but Amazon knows, yet I know it doesn’t hurt to built them.
I know a guy who claims to have ranked his book on page one of Amazon using his old fashioned ways of ranking his own blog pages – by getting thousands of links from all over the place.
You can see how to do that at the SEO section as I have to tell you about what I believe is most important to dominate the Amazon kindle store…
…which is why I saved it for last:
3 Getting downloads, reviews, likes, shares and all kinds of goodies
Reviews and downloads are vital, maybe as vital as the quality of your book.
Most will advise you to get your friends to give you reviews to get the ball rolling, which is nothing bad, it just won’t take you too far.
What you need to do is enroll in KDP select, it gives you the opportunity to earn if people read more than 10% of your book, or borrow your book, but most importantly gives you the opportunity to choose between two great promotional tools:
1 Kindle Countdown Deals
Time-bound promotional discounting for your book while earning royalties;
2 Free Book Promotion where readers worldwide can get your book free for a limited time.
I’ve never liked giving away stuff to make people buy, but I had to learn to do it. People just love free, when they see a book that is usually paid for free, they would download it instantly even if it’s nothing special…
…a clear sign for Amazon that book is becoming popular, and you need that to rank your book high… plus, the more downloads you get, the more reviews people would leave and the more likes and shares you will get.
And this is one killer free way to make your book popular.
Alright, I feel like I’ve been writing for way too long, I gotta get up and start my workout now… you already know how to dominate the Amazon kindle store, I’ll leave you go make all that cash and I’ll break the home gym.
If you feel like this post is worth the like, share the love, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks for reading, you rock. 🙂
