Alright, time has come to let you know how to make as much money as you want with Teespring.
Just in case you don’t know, Teespring is a place where you can design your own T-shirts and sell them right from their website, you don’t need a site, you don’t need a manufacturer, you only need to create an account (which happens in seconds) and you can make your first sale within minutes.
Doesn’t it sound awesome?
I know you might think:
“if it’s too good to be true, there’s gotta be a catch”
… but this time it’s just too good. Teespring’s been kicking ass for some time and the reason I’m writing about it now is I wanted to really be sure this is something you could do anytime to make extra cash online, you know, even if there were thousands of other people already doing it as what the situation is right now.
Although Zazzle and several others have been around for a while, since Teespring came along everybody’s been jumping on the T-shirt selling bandwagon mainly because launching a Teespring campaign is so simple a baby could do it, which brings me back to my favorite quote of all times:
Don’t be like:
“meh, it’s saturated already”
…cause it’s not (which is why I told you I decided to write this post right now). There might be a lot of people making money with it, but you should know one thing – people LOVE awesome designed T-shirts and there is a huge market for that product, so let’s begin with the guide how to make money immediately.
As usual, I’ll break the whole process down to a list for you to absorb it easier.
1 Designing the T-shirts
This is the most important part of this business.
And yes, promoting the shirts afterwards is vital, yet creating cool designs is what will actually sell them. You will need photoshop and I mean it. If you are handy with photoshop, you’ll do good, if not, you have to either get good at it or hire a designer right away.
Do NOT try mediocre designs, they will not sell! I’ll tell you how to promote your campaigns in a sec, but really get you have to create beautiful shirts, if you don’t have the money for photoshop, maybe go to fiverr, or odesk, and find someone to do it for you… but find a way to design like a pro and you will sell.
Once you start making cash, you can even hire a professional designer and pay them to create even better looking tees. You can try and copy some already selling designs, though I don’t think this is cool, plus it’s always better to be unique.
You can get some ideas here: http://teespring.com/discover.
2 Pricing the T-shirts
You can charge as much as you want, but a price of about $19.95 will do the job well. Once you become good at it, you can charge more. Just play with it and see what works best for you.
If a design sells very well, then duplicate that campaign, or create a similar one, but this time charge more. Anything over $40 is too much, whatever you design is, unless it’s a hoodie.
I personally would pay even $100 for a Bulldog tee, but I love Bulldogs, I used to have one and I have money (a combination that is hard to find). 🙂
3 Promoting the tees
Let’s talk traffic.
You might have already read about pasting your campaign links in groups or pages or whatever. If you haven’t – even better, cause that’s all crap. You need paid marketing to run profitable campaigns, and more specifically – Facebook ads.
Sure, you can build some viral page, a bulldog fan club for example, and sell bulldog tees every now and then, but to run a long lasting, constantly profiting Teespring business, you need ads.
Facebook traffic is cheap and extremely well targeted which is all you need.
Update: Custom audiences was all the rage back in the the day, now – not so much. Facebook have come a long way and now you can pretty much do anything from the main dashboard.
You can try custom audiences, although FB had enough of it and disapproves them when run with teespring campaigns. If you wanna use custom audiences anyway, use your own domain(s).
I don’t think you need that extra work though, as Facebook’s targeting options are a handful and will do the job for you, plus they have been really onto people trying to trick the system lately, although you would think you wouldn’t be doing anything wrong by selling tees via custom audiences.
The thing is their custom audiences are just for importing contacts you already have a connection with (like your own leads, people who visited your offer but did not buy etc), or for narrowing down your targeting via the audience insights feature, and not for scraping and then importing.
If you do it smart, you will still be fine, they mainly started kicking ass because marketers started abusing the system… like they do with everything.
As I already said though, you can go without scraping, Facebook has evolved a lot and now offer much more targeting options.
4 Getting to know how the system works
I left that for last on purpose.
I’m pretty sure you will start reading whatever you can get your hands on (or might have been doing so for a while) to get to know how to target people right, how to run those ads, and how to create campaigns etc.
I will tell you to stop doing that and just do the following, as this is all you have to know about making cash with Teespring.
– Go to teespring.com and register an account (use my link to make $0.50 more up to $2,500 on every sale you make, I’ll make 50 cents too).
– Create an awesome design (or borrow one, or hire someone to do it for you)
– Login to FB and go to ads manager
– Create a campaign, target people over 23 and be extremely precise with your targeting to be able to lower the ad price as much as possible. Use oCPM (bid per post engagement) when bidding and run image/video news feed ads (or just boost your page posts if you are using a page), right column ads work too, yet news feed ads are the best. Test to see what works best and cash in.
– Once the image/video post starts getting likes, shares and comments, interact with people… reply to them by giving them the link to buy (in case they missed it). Run contests like: “do you want one for free” and then tell them to like, comment or do whatever you want in order to win, post an image with your instructions and you will make even more sales (post all that as a comment). 🙂
– Do NOT quit after a few negative campaigns
– Scale and make more money
– do not expect to become a millionaire, as there are hundreds of thousands of people doing exactly the same thing you will. Although I know you will do better (after this article), you will still be in a business that every single person could start.
Retargeting is huge, but you have to worry about it after you start making sales, as it will become too complicated for you right now. Once you start making money, you will easily get to know how it’s done, don’t think about it now, just go run your first campaign.
Now all that’s left is to go and start right away, create several campaigns and start testing to get used to the system. You can start making money in no time. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the article, let me know if you did as a comment or a like or in any way you like.
