I’ve been wanting to write this article for quite a while but had to write some other awesome posts first like this one and this one… and I did not mean to say this one wasn’t as awesome, it’s just today is the perfect day for the truth about network marketing.
I did not know what the truth was either, not until I stumbled onto a company in 2011 that was alright, had some ok products and seemed the right way to monetize.
I had read a lot of books about it prior to that, heard Kiyosaki talk about MLM as if it was some miracle business and was like:
“I have to try this”
…and I joined that company, I’m glad I did, cause I met my business associate and made some very good friends there
The business side, though, was nothing I expected.
You already know I had an offline company prior to starting online, and I wasn’t exactly the regular person who joins network marketing (more on that later).
Those emotional sales videos and million dollar rings and crap like that did not impress me at all, I joined because a cool person introduced me to the business (read that very closely and you will see why people join a company).
Ok, so I joined and started promoting my way (you know, no fake houses and cars and pretending on social media), I put up a niche site specifically made for promoting this exact product, targeted a local market that knew nothing about this company, meaning it’s impossible not to get interested…
…and did great, well, great if I was the regular network marketing guy, for me it wasn’t great at all.
I started joining more people than those who were the so called “experienced MLMers”, because everything is simple when you have the brains to do it.
I redirected traffic off of Facebook to the site where I had a video capture page that converted almost every second visitor (mostly because the video was nothing like the regular crappy pitchy videos).
I know not a lot of people can make video like me, but you can see how to stand out by submitting your email in the form to your right, I’ll send you the info right away.
I realized one thing, actually a few things, but one of them really freaked me out: people joined not because of the products but because they wanted to get rich fast and become like me, they bought the dream, although I wasn’t the regular – let’s say – not so honest marketer LOL.
Most of them were unsuccessful network marketers already programmed wrong by the industry, and the other half who joined were those who knew nothing about the internet and business in general.
I started feeling bad about those people because they were brainwashed and thought they would get rich fast and easy because this company was something different (all MLMers say this about each new company that is all the same to impress prospects)…
…and I was totally honest with them, yet nobody wanted to listen, they did not want the truth and then I was like:
“why is this business so messed up?”
I have nothing against network marketing at all, I still think it is a great place to meet people (although most of them are not that reasonable), but it is a business that requires a lot of pretending, faking, and shit I don’t like, things that attract the gullible and weak… and also the sleazy salesmen who see this as fast money.
Those sleazy salesmen are the ones on top who try to keep the gullible and weak motivated and uplifted so they could keep paying and join more people…
…as this is how network marketing operates: by uplifting people and trying to sell them the dream, nobody – and let me repeat that – nobody cares about the products.
It’s all about uplifting people and flashing money snapshots and huge houses and huge cars to get people to buy… whatever it is that is being sold (even if it was horse shit).
I have a friend (who is also rich) and he got offered to join a company that became popular a few years ago, he called me to talk about it and then he said one thing that is possibly the best way to describe network marketing, he said:
“so network marketing is basically a bunch of people trying to sell things nobody needs to one another”
What he meant was this:
I’ll give you an example with John (a hypothetical leader in a company)
John has a down line of 1,000 people. It will grow by a few people a month but will mostly stay in this range, as some people would quit, others will join (here’s why) and so on.
Since he is selling crap (what most network marketing companies are all about), they have to keep feeding people the old:
“you have to buy the products to be able to sell them”
…and people will buy them because everybody wants to get rich. Then by the end of the third or fourth year the company will get saturated, it will become impossible to make the fast money like in the beginning and John will jump to another company that is supposed to be the next big thing and most people who admire them will join them in the new company as well… and will, again, buy the products not because they need them but because John did and they want to be like John.
Then some of John’s teammates will manage to grow and do exactly the same, and it goes on and on and on…
Now that you know the truth about network marketing, let me tell you how to make money in such a company and not be like 99% of the people who join:
1 Build up your social status
Plane photos, huge houses, cars, anything you can get your hands on, post it on Facebook and Instagram.
2 That’s it
It’s not about the best traffic source, or ranking on Google, or whatever… it’s about becoming a sexy marketer.
Easy, ain’t it?
But you have to know you will attract weird people and get surrounded by salesmen who are ready to sell their mothers to make 5 bucks.
It’s up to you.
I think network marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money, because you don’t have to worry about creating something cool, or building up a company, or support, or anything like that, you only have to pretend and fake on Facebook…
..which is easy as hell but at the same time pretty awful, but, hey, I’m not the one to judge, there are a lot of people who love this type or making money, I can’t say whether it is good or bad, I can only tell you it is funny to me and I just can’t take those network marketing fellows seriously.
Thanks for reading, if you are in a network marketing company, don’t get mad at me, you know what I just said is true.
let me know if you liked this article and stay awesome.
