I know, I know, before I start, I have to tell you about subconscious marketing LOL.
What the heck is that?
Well, although it sounds kinda like rocket science, it is not at all… it is just regular marketing only done subconsciously.
That did not explain it that well, did it?
let me try again
You promote something each day of your life, even if you don’t realize it… I told you about that bimmer that made me a millionaire at 22, right?
When you buy a cool car – you promote, when you buy expensive watches – you promote, when you travel the world and post the pics on Fb – you promote… even if you have nothing to sell.
Actually, there is no such thing as nothing to sell, it’s like with promoting – there is subconscious and conscious selling.
Know what?
Just go read the bimmer article, cause I’ll start with the subconscious philosophical stuff again and will get off topic… and my head will explode LOL.
Life is a promotion and I’ll tell you what I learned about marketing for the decade I’ve been promoting (ok, ok, 9 years LOL) right now.
Are you ready?
This article is not for people who don’t like the harsh reality, it is not for the emotionally unstable.
It is for you.
I know you aren’t any of the above-mentioned since you are reading my blog, everybody who reads this blog is a pure badass.
let’s begin:
Getting traffic is easy, finding money is not
Don’t tell me you still believe you can make it for free… I’ll find you and yell at you LOL, no I’d never do that. You are free to believe what you want, I’m only sharing what I’ve learned and am doing it to save you the trouble.
It’s a very simple saying even storage locker businessmen know (saw a guy on TV the other day say it) – “you invest money and you make money”… and I will add: the amount of invested money is proportional to the growth time. Tried to sound smart here LOL, let me say it my way: the more you invest, the faster you get rich.
How do I know?
Well, I’ve done a lot of stuff offline and online, have started businesses with 0 money, with 5 bucks, with thousands… can you guess which of these grew the fastest?
That’s right – the one I started with the most money.
Actually, it was my first company and I became a millionaire in a few years… enter your email in the form to your right and I’ll tell you the whole story.
Not that it is impossible to grow for free, but it takes a lot of time and so much stress I don’t recommend you try it at all.
I know you are thinking finding money is hard, but it really is not.
You can start with a few hundred bucks and work your way up to the point you have money to do what you love (I did it after I lost everything in 2011).
Marketing is finding the way to make the lying not lying
LOL what?
It took me a few minutes to write that sentence too, so take your time absorbing it.
There is a pretty thin line between marketing and lying, and the closer you get to that line, the better your marketing would be.
WOW, can’t believe I wrote this sentence, I should go patent that s@#t and charge to be quoted.
What am I saying here?
I’m not saying I hate marketing (well, I’m not crazy about it, which is why I have people doing it for me), I’m not saying you should become a crook (by the way, most marketers are crooks), I’m saying there is a lot of, let’s say, exaggeration in this industry.
The world is at a point there is a lot of everything, and we buy what we don’t need most of the time, because we are convinced we need it.
You follow?
Let me give you an example:
You probably don’t need the next traffic generation product, because getting traffic is pretty easy, yet you can’t wait to buy something that is said to help you make a bunch of money fast and easy.
See what I mean?
We buy based on emotion and justify with logic… which is why there are a million crappy products that sell like crazy.
I wrote some crazy marketing lessons the other day, I suggest you go read them, you will love them… and I’ll move on with the next lesson I’ve learned.
People buy from people they like, trust and want to be like
I have a friend who have been using Apple since they invented the first iPhone, but the other day they said:
“meeeh, now that Steve Jobs is gone, Apple’ve really lost it, I’m switching to android”
Apple haven’t really lost anything, they have always been a marketing company and a a lot of their customers are fans of Steve Jobs… this was the deal with my friend too, they just don’t want to buy anything not coming from Steve Jobs.
And it’s like that with everything, if 10 marketers were selling the same thing, you’d buy from the one you like the most.
This is why you have to know yourself very well, your personality determines who’d buy your product. You now have the answer why some people sell like crazy while others, even though they might have better products, still make funny money.
Statistics are worthless, stories are everything
Statistics and facts are dull, people forget them fast, you can use them for traffic when they are fun, but I don’t recommend becoming one of those people who, you know, write 3 000 words how they track this and that, and basically say: I have no idea how to make money, so I waste time tracking everything LOL.
You know who I’m talking about, if you don’t, you will see browsing the internet.
On the other hand, stories sell, they sell a lot.
Heard the saying: “you can’t sell anything if you can’t tell anything”?
Some women said it and it’s my favorite marketing quote of all times.
Think about TED talks, events, interesting books, personal development gurus and rich marketers – they all sell a lot by story telling, I’m linking to an article I wrote a few years ago that says a lot about telling stories (I have also published Seth Godin’s views in it), the article might be a bit boring (my first 10-20 articles weren’t that great LOL… they are still better than 97% of all content online, though), yet Seth’s views are worth it for sure.
Alright, I know you want to see what else I learned, but the article is getting a bit long… it’s ok though, you can still read something else on the blog, or even better – enter your email in the form below the article and I’ll send you the rest in your inbox… you will be shocked how I got my first 1,000 visitors.
Let me know if you liked this article and stay AWESOME.
