Network marketing is a business model created for the “little” people who have no capital to start a business.
Or is it?
This was the main idea I guess, or perhaps it was fast wealth… you can choose whichever you want, they are both right, you can start with little money and you can also get rich fast and easy (keep reading though it only sounds that good, or maybe not).
I was reading Forbes’ Billionaire list the other day and was amazed to see the owner of Amway before Donald Trump and many more on that list… so I guess it works.
How it works, though, is the sad part.
Back in 2011 I lost my company (you know, $500K cash, a few mills in assets, nothing serious LOL) and since I had nothing left, I had to try and make it happen online… it was considered a place where you could start for free (was I in for a big surprise, but that’s another topic).
I started looking to make money online, a fresh network marketing company had just been founded and their pushers had just started looking for prey (it’s exactly how these companies operate)… I entered a list and started receiving messages like:
“do you wanna change the world?”
“What we are planing will be bigger than Apple”
…and, you know, the regular crap that makes the gullible join the madness.
I had been making millions, unlike that person sending the messages, and, of course, knew how business worked and was using these emails to have fun, even watched 30 seconds of the sales video which (in my opinion) should not have been considered a sales video at all… yet it worked, people bought after watching it (I know, cause I used it… getting there)…
…one day I received a message that showed me the person whose list I was on was a really nice guy, and they really wanted to get their business going. I skyped, joined them and we’ve been friends ever since.
On the second month they were like:
“god damn you are good, you’ve joined more people than me”
As I said, I knew how business worked and it was no big deal to me to join people.
I set up a local site (could not compete with the big dogs who had been in this business for ages and jumped from company to company with their downlines), started sending cheap Fb traffic to the home page and was joining every 20th person that came and watched the video.
I’m not gonna name companies, it was actually a nice company, they even sent me gifts and stuff, but I was shocked how stupid the whole MLM shit was.
There are two kinds of people in these companies:
1 The weak, naive and gullible
2 The predators.
The weak, naive and gullible are desperate to make money and the predators can smell that and show off with whatever they have to join them.
Then they use motivation to keep them in as long as possible, cause let’s be honest – network marketing is pretty much a bunch of people selling crap to each other no one actually needs.
Sooner or later the weak quit and the predators search out new victims.
No one in this industry cares about business, the products, about the things that matter like helping, adding value to the marketplace, being real and honest… no, it’s all about showing off, fake smiling, useless talks and motivation.
Well, all hat disgust me, which is why I’ve never been involved with MLMs since… I have nothing against the business model itself, but everything against what those ruthless sales people have turned it into… or maybe it was always like that.
If you like showing off, taking and smiling, network marketing might be your thing, though you should be careful, cause once considered a network marketer it’s hard to be taken seriously by huge people.
This is the pure reality about network marketing whether you like it or not.
