The pic has nothing to do with the post, but I couldn’t find anything that suits.
Let’s talk about what really matters.
The other day I got an email from a fellow marketer who invited me to a private meeting and since he really wanted me to be there, he ended the mail with the following:
“It’s no secret in this business that what you know isn’t half as important as who you know. ”
I’ve been thinking about writing about that for quite a while and this email made me stop what I was doing and write this post.
It’s about who you know, whatever you do. Connections are everything.
What you know is not half as important as who you know… if only more people could realize that simple law, there wouldn’t be so much failure.
Most people believe information will get them to success and they read, and read, and follow numerous blogs and gurus, and then read some more… and expect to become an authority in their niche and kill it.
They participate in forums, most times are totally right, know way too much, have developed quite a skill, always philosophize, yet make funny money… and the reason is they know nobody, except for a few people who follow them at the forum.
I see thousands of people like that each day and to tell you the truth feel really bad for them, because they are smart and skillful, but they are also angry and unsatisfied, because they just don’t get the results that they want even though they know everything.
But it’s not about what we know, and about who we know.
At the same time there are tons of people who don’t know anything, don’t have that much skill, yet make tons of cash, because they know the right guy.
You might say this is unfair, but that’s how business works… life as well.
The best way to fast-track your success in any area of life is surrounding yourself with people who are where you want to be.
So in case you are trying to absorb all the information on the web, or to become an expert in your area, or provide value, as you have probably been told you should do, you might wanna reconsider your efforts.
Instead, you should make friends with people who are already rich.
Nobody really cares how much you know about something, or how right you are.
People only care about how successful and popular you are and to become such you should make friends with such people, or it could take you a looooot of time to achieve it… or even worst – never get there.
Before I got into online marketing, I had made millions, had built and lost a network of fast foods, had gone all the way, yet no one cared… I was a newbie even though I knew more about business than most online marketers.
People with less knowledge, but well connected were the real deal, I was no one.
Most famous blogs are famous not because they share they best information, but because they have other blogs promoting them.
Make friends with the popular and you will become popular.
Social environment is vital.
